(AP) — CAIRO – Egypt will delay the start of classes for schools and universities as a precautionary measure against the spread of swine flu.

The state-run daily al-Gomhoriya reported in its early Friday edition that Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif announced the school year will now begin on October 3, a week later than planned.

The new date allows those returning from pilgrimage to Mecca during the holy month of Ramadan time to exhibit any signs of the disease as a precaution.
